- About me
- Hi there -- I head up the Chip Design, FPGA Design, and PCB Design communities here at TechBites (I also run the "History of Computing and Stuff" community as a hobby). I'm an engineer by trade, but over the years I drifted into being a writer. My degree was in Control Engineering (a core of math with electronics, mechanics, and hydraulics and fluidics). My first job was designing CPUs for mainframe computers. Since then I've designed "stuff" ranging from ASICs to PCBs. Over the years I've meandered my way through most of "EDA space". In addition to more articles than I can count, I've written a number of books on electronics, computing, EDA, FPGAs, and 3D graphics (bounce over to Amazon.com and do a search on "Clive Maxfield" to see these little scamps). I'm happily married (to Gina the Gorgeous) and have a great 15-year old son called Joseph. I love science fantasy and science fiction (especially Dr. Who).

Ken -- I didn't realize you wrote novels as well as technical books -- I just discovered this fact in your profile -- I can write technical stuff (like my "Bebop to the Boolean Boogie" or "How Computers Do Math") but I simply can't do novels. I just ordered your 'Hartz String Theory' from Amazon ... I cannot wait to read it!

There's a point in every project where you have to shoot the author and send the book to the printer. Ha!

There's nothing like the feeling when you get the first copy of a new book back from the printer ... and then you open it at any page and immediately spot something you'd like to change (Doh!) In fact I have a couple of ideas ... but there's so little time...

Oh Yeah. The reviews are done. Only one more hurdle before that book becomes a reality. Its been a while since you did one Max. No longer have the hankering for them?
