Cool Beans: Have you heard the (Google) Buzz?

The world is moving ever-faster with regards to social media and social networking technologies. Only a few years ago there was nothing to know (or worry about) in this arena. Then along came Twitter and Facebook and LinkedIn and Plaxo and of course our very own TechBites.com and ... the list goes on. Now we have Google Buzz... when will it all end?

Of course that is a rhetorical question ... it's never going to end ... we're currently riding the crest of the wave ... and the wave is going to get bigger and bigger and BIGGER ... the trick is to not fall off and get caught in the undertow (I'm starting to scare myself).

Anyway, the reason I'm waffling on about this is that – as part of their ongoing quest toward world domination – those clever chaps and chappesses at Google have just announce a cool new social media platform called Google Buzz.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around all of this. With Twitter you can share 140-character text messages – with Google Buzz you can use your iPhone or Android units to share videos, photos, and all sorts of "stuff" (you need a Gmail account) ... with support for other mobile platforms from Nokia, Blackberry, and so forth coming soon.

But there's more – because it all ties into Google Maps – users can display where they are when they are "Buzzing" and also find out what other buzz activities are taking place nearby.

So now we have "Googling" and "Tweeting" and "Buzzing" ... my mom already thinks I talk a different language ... in a few years time she won't understand a word I say (grin).
